II. Câu hỏi Part 2
1. Describe a subject you enjoyed at school.
(What it was?/ Who taught you?/ What you learned?/ Why you enjoyed it?)
I’d like to talk about English, which was hands down the subject I enjoyed the most at school. I studied it throughout secondary school, but I started to truly love it in high school, mainly because of my English teacher, Ms. Lan, who had a very inspiring teaching style.
What I liked about her lessons was that they were never boring or repetitive. Instead of making us memorise grammar rules, she encouraged us to use English in real-life situations, like role plays, debates and short presentations. Thanks to her, I picked up a lot of useful vocabulary and expressions, and I also learnt how to structure my ideas clearly.
More importantly, English made me feel like I could connect with the world outside my classroom. I started watching movies without subtitles and reading short articles online, which gave me a huge sense of achievement. That’s why I enjoyed it—it wasn’t just an academic subject, it felt practical and meaningful.
hands down: chắc chắn là, không phải bàn cãi
start to truly love: bắt đầu thực sự yêu thích
never boring or repetitive: không bao giờ nhàm chán hay lặp đi lặp lại
role plays: đóng vai
pick up: học được, nhặt được
structure my ideas clearly: sắp xếp ý tưởng rõ ràng
short articles online: bài báo/ngắn trên mạng
a huge sense of achievement: cảm giác thành tựu rất lớn
2. Describe something you wish you had learned but never got the chance.
What it was?/How you hoped to learn it?/ How it could have helped you?/ Why you didn’t learn it?
Something I really wish I had learned earlier is basic personal finance, especially how to budget, save, and invest money wisely.
When I was at school, nobody taught us how to manage money. I always assumed it was something adults would naturally figure out later, but honestly, that’s not true. If I had learned it sooner, I think I could have avoided many unnecessary spending habits and built better financial discipline.
I hoped to learn it through a simple course or even through school workshops, where students could practise planning a monthly budget, understanding interest rates, and avoiding debt. It would have helped me become more independent and confident in making financial decisions.
The reason I didn’t learn it was mainly because our education system focused heavily on exams and academic subjects. So topics like real-life skills were often ignored. Now I’m trying to learn it by reading books and watching videos, but I still think it would’ve been much easier if I had started earlier.
basic personal finance: tài chính cá nhân cơ bản
budget (v): lập ngân sách, phân bổ chi tiêu
invest (money): đầu tư tiền
assume: cho rằng / nghĩ rằng
interest rates: lãi suất
avoid debt: tránh nợ nần
It would’ve been much easier: đáng lẽ sẽ dễ hơn nhiều
3. Describe someone who is intelligent.
(Who the person is?/ What they are like?/ What they do?/ Why you consider them intelligent?)
I’d like to describe my older cousin, who I truly consider an intelligent person. He works as a software engineer, but what impresses me most is not his job title—it’s the way he thinks.
He’s quite calm and logical. Whenever there’s a problem, he doesn’t panic or complain. Instead, he breaks it down into smaller parts and tries to solve it step by step. He also learns extremely fast. For example, he taught himself programming from online courses, and within a year, he was able to build real projects.
To me, intelligence is not just about being good at school. It’s about curiosity, discipline and problem-solving skills. My cousin reads widely, asks thoughtful questions, and always tries to improve himself. That combination of mindset and ability is what makes him genuinely intelligent in my eyes.
truly consider: thực sự coi là
what impresses me most: điều khiến tôi ấn tượng nhất
job title: chức danh công việc
whenever there’s a problem: bất cứ khi nào có vấn đề
panic: hoảng loạn
break it down into smaller parts: chia nhỏ vấn đề ra
solve it step by step: giỉa quyết từng bước
curiosity: sự tò mò, ham học hỏi
discipline: tính kỉ luật
thoughtful question: câu hỏi sâu sắc
combination of mindset and ability: sự kết hợp giữa tư duy và năng lực
genuinely intelligent: thông minh thật sự
. Describe a book, app or website that has helped you learn.
(What it is?/ How you found it?/ What you learned from it?/ Why it was useful?)
A learning resource that has helped me a lot is YouTube, especially English-learning channels and IELTS content. I discovered it while searching for ways to improve my listening skills, and I was surprised by how much high-quality content is available for free.
I use it to learn vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking strategies. For example, I watch videos that explain common IELTS topics, and I try to shadow the speaker to practise stress and intonation. I also follow channels that teach collocations and idioms, which helps me sound more natural.
What makes YouTube useful is that it’s flexible and convenient. I can study anytime, even when I’m on the bus or doing chores. Also, learning through videos feels more engaging than reading a textbook, so I’m less likely to get bored. Overall, it has played a big role in improving my English.
while searching for ways to…: trong lúc tìm cách để…
shadow the speaker: shadowing (nhại theo người nói)
practise stress and intonation: luyện trọng âm & ngữ điệu
more engaging: cuốn hút/hấp dẫn hơn
less likely to get bored: ít bị chán hơn
